    Heartland

    has a heart

   for missions!

In conjunction with Heartland's mission statement, "Come...Grow...Go..." we strive to fulfill the Great Commission by going to the uttermost parts of the world.  Our goal is to see all come to know Jesus as Lord and Savior, and the heart of the Heartland shows through our prayerful and financial support of 37 various missionaries and missions projects in the United States and around the world.

Heartland Worship Center displays the flags of each country that we support through the missions ministry on our "boulevard of flags" as one comes to the church campus.  In addition to the various countries we support, we also display the Christian flag, the state of Kentucky flag, and the Israeli flag.

Since becoming affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention in 2004, Heartland is part of a larger community of believers that supports thousands of missionaries globally.  Click here to read more about the International Mission Board through the Southern Baptist Convention                                            : http://www.imb.org/core/default.asp.

Please see the following listing of our missionaries we support.  You may click on their picture or flag to be directed to their website and information about the countries (if applicable).

In January of 1990, after serving in various churches throughout the nation and world, Ed Gibson was appointed by the Executive Board of B.I.M.I. as an International Representative.  This title was changed by B.I.M.I. to Director of Enrichment in 1995.  B.I.M.I. felt this title better represented their burden to be an encouragement to missionaries, especially those already serving in foreign countries. Ed's responsibilities entail sharing the work of missions through Mission Conferences in local churches and Baptist colleges, helping missionaries raise support, and providing public relations for B.I.M.I. and their missionary families.

Ed Gibson now speaks in conferences across the country, and as often as possible, attends the Field Conferences of B.I.M.I. missionaries around the world.  Ed is thankful for God's faithfulness to him as has traveled throughout our country sharing his burden for the work of missions.  His heart's desire is to encourage each ministry he visits to take an active role in the support and work of God's outreach to the world.

The Hayes have a "never-before-attempted" special event at their church coming in October of this year.  The local golf association in Baguio City is holding a golf tournament to assist the church (Grace Baptist) in raising funds to help rebuild their church due to the destruction caused by an earthquake.  Although this is a different approach in reaching souls, Herbert and Brenda feel this event will be a great success and testimony to the entire community!

Souls are still being saved and baptized at Uijongbu Baptist Church, where Rick Kelley serves as the Pastor.  During the next two to three years, their area will be drawing down, but as it now stands, there are many more military people in South Korea due to the realignment of troops.  The Kelley's goal is to keep winning soldiers, airmen and their families to the Lord until the 2nd Infantry Division closes down there, or until Jesus comes.  The church is starting another mid-week Bible study at Camp Casey on Thursday nights.  Pray for their ongoing ministry and for souls to be saved.
